EWT focuses on organic agriculture

Environmental Watch Trust celebrated World Food Day in Green Village, Sahal Khingar, Gujar Khan, says a press release.

Keeping in view the theme of World Food Day EWT focuses on organic agriculture, horticulture and organic women farmers, women farmers who play key role in agricultural production are suffering seriously from malnutrition. Manager National Rural Support Programme (NRSP) Gujar Khan Muhammad Basharat Elahi was the chief guest of the event. He distributed hybrid Canola Seed provided by Canola Experts Dr. Ayub and Dr. Abdul Rasheed of National Agricultural Research Centre (NARC) to organic farmers of EWT green village Sahal Khingar.

Patron in chief Environmental Watch Trust Raja Javed Ali Bhatti said that hearing enhances understanding while seeing is believing.” Member EWT and organic farmer Samina's home fruit garden is role model for organic fruit production in Pothohar region,” he added. He appreciated the best organic women farmers efforts in kitchen gardening. He said the role and performance of women farmers must be recognized and appreciated at all levels.

He appreciated that first time organic banana production in EWT green village Sahal Khingar is remarkable. “Pothohar is best to grow fruits and let's work together to make Pothohar a fruit growing region. Production of all types of citrus fruits is a success story,” he added.
