CAPITOLA — From 3:30-6:30 p.m. Oct. 6, Austrian-born chef /winemaker Martin Hollrigl is hosting a six-course meal which is the third installment of his recently launched series. This event is entitled “Travel with Martin Garden Feast (A 90-minute Dream Vacation).” Cost is $62 per person including beverages. See full menu and get tickets at eatfeastly.com/martin-hoellrigl/. Courses include an Austrian small plate of elderflower-marinated scallop with peach and apricot compote and arugula with lemongrass dressing, paired with an Austrian Riesling; and an Italian small plate of hand-cut charcoal braised beef with mushrooms, combined with yolk colored pasta, paired with Pairolero Barbera d’Asti Superiore. Hollrigl started with the theme of “Capitola Garden Feast” in June 2018, and continued with “Capitola Seafood Brunch” in September. Hollrigl partners with his 15-year-old son to create the meals, which take place in the family’s garden surrounded by vegetables, fruits, herbs and flowers. He grows most of the meals’ ingredients himself, and the rest comes from local, organic sources. He donates part of the event proceeds to Jacob’s Heart Children’s Cancer Support Services. Hollrigl’s recognition and experience include being named Chef of the Year by Vienna Lifestyle Magazine, serving as Hilton Resorts’ General Manager for four continents, and making wine in the Santa Cruz Mountains and Sonoma.
