Bishkek, Dec. 4, 2018. /Kabar/. Kyrgyz First Vice Prime Minister Kubatbek Boronov met with Chairman of the Korean Importers Association (KOIMA) Myung-Jin-shin, the press service of the Government Office of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

The First Vice Prime Minister told that Kyrgyzstan attaches great importance to cooperation with South Korea.

“I would like to note that the potential of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries has great prospects. We should use all available opportunities to increase cooperation in this direction. At the same time, the volume of exports of Korean goods to Kyrgyzstan takes up to 99.5%, thus there is an imbalance in the export-import policy between our countries,” Boronov said.

The First Vice Prime Minister emphasized the fact that Kyrgyzstan intends to increase trade with Korea and is interested in increasing exports by organizing the supply of organic agricultural products to Korea. And also in attracting Korean investments in various sectors of the economy.

Boronov told that that in 2016, Kyrgyzstan received the GSP+ status of European Union, within which it became possible to import more than 6,000 commodity items into the European Union countries duty-free.

“Korean companies could create joint ventures with Kyrgyz companies for the production and export of agricultural products and goods to European countries in the framework of GSP+. I also want to note that the Government of the country is making every effort to create the most favorable conditions for business,” the First Vice Prime Minister said.

In turn, Chairman of the Korean Importers Association (KOIMA) Myung-Jin-shin noted that it is necessary to intensify efforts in order to improve cooperation in the trade and economic sphere.

“I know that Kyrgyzstan is rich not only in the beauty of nature, but also in natural resources. I know that Kyrgyz honey is considered to be of very high quality and is exported to many countries of the world. Unfortunately, there are barriers faced by entrepreneurs from Kyrgyzstan in Korea. For my part, I am ready to make every effort to increase the trade turnover between our countries and change the situation for the better,” Myung-Jin-shin told.

At the end of the meeting, Boronov proposed to consider the possibility of holding a business forum in Bishkek with the participation of Korean and Kyrgyz companies in the first half of 2019.
