I used to enjoy the humour mixed in with the style, panache and action.  Not a lot to laugh at of recent, though the action is strong.  More British humour please.

Rami Malek should play Bond, Daniel Craig is old and should retire from the role already..

A high-fuctioning sociopath assassin as a hero? No thanks.

A high functioning sociopath is way more preferable to a low functioning sociopath. And I'd argue that most heroes are dormant sociopaths untill the script gives them a trigger. It's fiction, entertainment. Check out your local representative that's a way more scary path to travel.

The 007s keep getting older while the villains keep getting younger. A Bond over 50 just doesn't work, and young super-villains just don't cut it. It takes years to become a super-villain.

@commanteer

Does it take longer to become a super-villain than a super-spy?

I miss the days of Sean Connery and Roger Moore as Bond. As Matt above mentioned, these 2 had the correct combo of "humour mixed in with the style, panache and action".

Absolutely, super-spies, especially the fictional kind, burn out young but move up quickly. They are either dead or promoted into administration by 50. Not to mention Bond is constantly fighting, drinking and chasing women - which guys normally grow out of by 50.

Super villains, on the other hand, have to start off as common thugs and work their way up through the ranks. And young guys would look funny sitting with a white cat purring on their lap while muttering, "I expect you to die, Mr. Bond." Moreover, it's more dramatic to have to defeat a super-intelligent and ruthless baddie who seems unbeatable. The villain needs the kind of gravitas and authority that only age can bring. Defeating some amoral computer hacker who has just been acting out his sociopath tendencies a few years since he left high school is less exciting. Otherwise, they could just cast Mark Zuckerberg.

Er, there's a clue here that Bond has already retired. That take care of the ageism?

Quote from article: "The movie finds Bond out of active service and enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica."

If Harrison Ford etc. keep doing it, why not?

I am far from young. But I read all the Bond books, and the character is just simply a younger man. His interests and behavior don't match an older man. That casting, not ageism.

The good news is, the old guys get all the juicy villain parts.

Joanna Lumley was my best Bond Girl

The still untitled movie will be partly set in Jamaica, which was also a setting in "Dr. No" and "Live and Let Die."

Live and Let Die was a great Bond movie, starring Roger Moore and the stunning Jane Seymour as Solitaire.

I especially miss Roger Moore. The definition of debonair.

But there is only on James Bond: Sean Connery.

Supervillains have to first go to college for 9 years so we can be called doctor. Then we have to get certified and have 150 hours of professional development every 2 years. It's hard.

Same old Bond, same old garbage..

Try reading the books. You will see what you are missing.

Bond Baddies should by law be required to reside in hollowed out volcanoes for at least 5 years.

Malek's a great actor, and so I'm sure he'll pull it off, but for whatever reason I feel at the moment like I'm going to have a hard time separating this from his previous roles. In Mr. Robot he's a dopey Genius who becomes a proxy super villain, to his complete shock and dismay (at least at the end of the latest season), and right now that's all I can see. Like I said, though, I expect to be pleasantly surprised. Glad to see another Bond movie coming out, at any rate.

These news films have zero relationship to the original books by Ian Fleming, beyond taking a name or phrase from them for use as the film's title. Even some of the earlier films were combination of different books, or even take from short stories such as The Hildebrand Rarity. This film does not even have a script, they have just appointed the script writer.

Makek should wear those prosthetic Freddy teeth again for this role.

James Bond is too busy going to the gym now to work on his sense of humour. He might be dull, but look at them pecs!

Protein please, shaken not stirred.

Sean Connery was the original but Roger Moore was the best Bond.

I miss Roger Moore.
