This Colorado baseball team might win less often than the Avalanche squad that finished with 48 points and a 22-56-4 record in 2017. And these Rockies are worse than the Nuggets that finished 11-71 in 1998.

Kiz: We are lucky to be alive at this moment in Colorado sports history, with a chance to witness history. While the Avs and Nuggets are in the bold pursuit of championships, you’re cheeky Rox Bottoms are making a mess at 20th and Blake. This baseball team has a shot to be the worst pro franchise ever to represent our fair state. The 2016-17 Avs were, indeed, wretched, but taught hard lessons that turned Nathan MacKinnon into a champ. I had a courtside seat as coach Bill Hanzlik suffered, during a year when the Nuggets could've taken Tracy McGrady in the ‘97 NBA draft but took Tony Battie, and were lucky to finish with 11 victories. That’s an almost impossibly low bar for your current Rockies to stumble under. But don’t underestimate the ineptitude of these Pet Rocks.

I hope the Rockies can overtake the Chicago White Sox for the worst record in the major leagues. If you’re going to be this bad, at least be the best at it.

Kiz: Before manager Bud Black takes his last lonely walk to the mound to make his last pitching change of a season in which Colorado is capable of losing 120 games, this squad very well might challenge the 1963 Broncos, who opened the season with a 59-7 loss to the Chiefs and closed the book on a 2-11-1 record by getting blown out 58-20 by the Chargers, as the most pathetic pro team ever to shame a dusty old cowtown.

Deion and Shedeur Sanders taking to Twitter to criticize a disgruntled former CU teammate was weak sauce and lame. The coach and quarterback of a team that finished 4-8 should tune out the noise and turn it up on game day.

Kiz: In my not so humble opinion, Shedeur has a real chance to be a great NFL quarterback. And Coach Prime has put a big shine on a CU football program that few in the country had even noticed for a decade. But Deion and Sons are all about the Sanders brand. Boulder makes for a pretty backdrop for their videos. Do they truly care about the University of Colorado? Only a naive fool believes that.

Let me offer kudos for a great column on the greatness of Nuggets center Nikloa Jokic and Avs defenseman Cale Makar to Kiz, maybe the greatest of all time in Colorado.

— Dave, connoisseur of greatness

Kiz: A GOAT? Little old moi? No way. No how. We all know that. But Jokic and Makar definitely fit the description.

And today’s parting shot reminds me of lyrics from a song: Sit down, be humble.

Kiz, I just watched your new Kickin’ It Podcast. It’s a new level of knuckleheadedness. What strain were you smoking, Kiz? Share the wealth! Hard to see the Nuggets getting past the Timberwolves. But here’s to it!
