Seattle's doughnut craze continues with no signs of slowing down, as the Georgetown doughnut and soft serve shop Seattle Freeze soft opens today, and news of a brand-new White Center doughnut shop called Good Day Doughnuts from the chef of Vendemmia is on the horizon. Read on to discover your new favorite places to grab fried-dough confections and more, like an upcoming Ballard location for Captive Spirits, a new place to get burgers and sushi from Katsu Burger, and a new barbecue joint on Capitol Hill. OPENINGS
47 North Bar + Bistro
This new bistro and bar, which opened inside Bellevue's Hilton Garden Inn at the beginning of June, focuses on local ingredients like Taylor Shellfish Clams and Creekstone Farms pork belly with local beer and wine, as well as craft cocktails made with local spirits. There's also a kids' menu.

Ascend Prime Steak and Sushi
This luxe wood-fired steakhouse and sushi bar, which opens today on the 31st floor of the Lincoln Square South Tower, boasts a lofty 360-degree view of the Seattle skyline as well as a cocktail lounge and bar and indoor fire pits. The menu is as extravagant as you'd expect, with crudo plates, a selection of Wagyu beef, foie gras, sushi rolls with ingredients like prosciutto and shaved truffles, and more.

Bainbridge Brewing
This second location for Bainbridge Brewing, which soft-opened in the former space of the Alehouse on Winslow on June 12 and will have a grand opening party tonight, features the company's "island-crafted ales" as well as a curated selection of local craft beer, cider, and wine. For entertainment, there's board games, trivia, live music, and sports on TV.

Captive Spirits Distilling
Seattle distillery Captive Spirits, the maker of Big Gin, will open another distillery and tasting room in Ballard on June 28. The new tasting room, which will seat 20-25 people, will feature seasonal cocktails on tap and windows looking into the distillery.

Hot Pot King
This new hot pot eatery, which recently opened in the International District and had its first Yelp review on May 22, features a spread of fresh veggies and meats for diners to plunge into simmering stocks, along with snacks like house-made beef jerky and pickled chicken feet.

Katsu Burger and Sushi
The tonkotsu-style burger joint's new location in Ballard soft-opened this week. In addition to those signature mammoth-sized, deep-fried burgers, nori fries, and milkshakes, the new location also features a sushi bar and bento as well as cocktails.

The Mar·ket
Chef Shubert Ho, who co-owns Bar Dojo and Salt & Iron, has opened a promising new seafood restaurant and fishmonger called The Mar·ket in Edmonds, serving fish and chips, fish tacos, sushi burritos, lobster rolls, shrimp tostadas, and chowder. There's a fresh fish counter where customers can purchase everything from salmon and crab to octopus to freshly shucked oysters, and a small grocery and refrigerated section.

Meaty Johnson's BBQ
This new Capitol Hill barbecue joint, which had its first Yelp review on May 30, sells brisket and pulled pork by the pound, quarter chickens, Uli's hot links, St. Louis ribs, chili, mac and cheese, coleslaw, kimchi potato salad, and jalapeño cornbread. It sells out fast, so get there early and check their Facebook before you go.

Palmi Korean Cuisine & Teriyaki
This restaurant, which opened in Fremont and had its first Yelp review on May 23, serves a mix of Korean and Japanese fare, including bibimbap, teriyaki, poke bowls, curries, bulgogi, and more.

Seattle Freeze
This doughnut and soft serve shop from Darren McGill and Kryse Martin-McGill, the husband-and-wife team that brought you such hits as Happy Grillmore, Central District Ice Cream, and Nate's Wings and Waffles, soft-opens with a limited quantity of treats today. The shop will serve Filipino-inspired baked goods from Big Boys and Poke Wai and churn up frosty treats with an ice cream base and add-ins like chocolate chips. If their unique flavors at Central District Ice Cream (like ube cheesecake and Fruity Pebbles) are anything to go by, great things are in store.

Seoul Bowl
This Korean barbecue food truck offers a choice of white, purple, or kimchi bacon rice as a base; Korean bulgogi beef, slow-cooked soy-pork, Korean spicy pork, Korean BBQ chicken, or organic fried tofu as a protein; and toppings like sweet Asian corn salad, pickled radishes, kimchi, caramelized onions, smashed potato salad, and a "cheese fall" (an ooey-gooey river of cheese poured over your meal for an extra $1.50). There's also a bulgogi cheese sandwich, "chee-balls," and mandoo (potstickers). Their first Yelp review appeared on May 9, and you can try their offerings at the Solstice Saturday Night Market and Westwood Village Street Fair this weekend.

SoDo Poke & More
This poke spot, which recently opened in SoDo and had its first Yelp review on May 25, features build-your-own bowls with protein options like ahi tuna, octopus, and tofu as well as sides like udon salad bowls and rolls, and drinks like acai smoothies and mango mint tea.

The Herbfarm is for sale
The legendary Woodinville restaurant Herbfarm, which has received many accolades for its farm-to-table cuisine, including a James Beard award for Best Chef Northwest and a AAA 5-Diamond award, is for sale. According to Eater Seattle, the owners, husband-and-wife team Ron Zimmerman and Carrie Van Dyck, who started the Herbfarm in 1986, say that they are "thinking about their next steps in life as they get older" and would prefer to transition to new owners sooner rather than later, and are looking for a new owner who will maintain their same level of dedication to the restaurant.

Seattle restaurants opening locations in Japanese airport
Six Seattle businesses will open locations in Nagoya Airport (Chubu Centrair International Airport) in Japan as part of a new Boeing commercial complex called Flight of Dreams. The complex will feature Boeing's first 787 testing aircraft and other aviation-themed activities alongside a mock Seattle street setting featuring Starbucks, Fran’s Chocolates, Beecher’s Handmade Cheese, Ethan Stowell Restaurants, Pike Brewing, and Eltana alongside some Pacific Northwest-inspired businesses.

Vendemmia chef opening White Center doughnut shop
Erik Jackson, the chef at Brian Clevenger's handmade pasta restaurant Vendemmia in Fremont, is departing at the end of June to open Good Day Doughnuts, a doughnut shop in White Center, with his wife Alison Odowski. The new shop, set to open by August, will seat 10-25 people and offer sourdough-yeasted doughnuts, cake doughnuts, and crullers for about $2 each. The space will also occasionally host Jackson's Rough Draft pop-up, which he runs with Aaron Wilcenski of the Burgundian and Nick Jarvis of the Carlile Room, on Thursdays and Fridays.

Honeyhole loses legal battle
The beloved Capitol Hill sandwich shop's application to trademark its brand has been rejected by the United States Patent and Trademark Office due to an existing claim on their name.

Footprint Wine coming to Capitol Hill
Sixth Avenue Wine Seller bar manager Kenneth Dillon plans to open Footprint Wine, a sustainably minded wine bar that will focus on biodynamic, organic, and/or local wines and will offer wine on tap as well as in bottles and cans. The bar will also have some food options, including pâté and crostini, and will open on E Madison later this year.

13th Annual Washington Brewers Festival
Maximizers who thrive when presented with a dizzying array of choices should enjoy this festival from the Washington Beer Commission, which will offer 500 beers from more than 100 Washington brewers. Besides beer, there’s also a specialty root-beer garden for designated drivers and the 21-and-younger crowd to enjoy, plus 17 food vendors, including excellent handmade tamales from Frelard Tamales, local-beer-battered, London-style fish and chips from Nosh Food Truck, New Orleans soul food from Where Ya at Matt, and mouth-watering smoked meats from Wood Shop BBQ, not to mention a kids' playground and music and entertainment all weekend in Marymoor Park.

As part of their Father's Day weekend tradition, Fiddler's Inn will pour a selection of ciders.

SATURDAY, JUNE 16
BBQ Boot Camp: All Things Ribs
Wood Shop pitmaster Rudy Ramirez will school students in "everything from trimming spareribs into St Louis cut, to grilling amazing baby back ribs in the backyard this summer, to competition style ribs, and how to smoke beef ribs just for good measure." Expect plenty of "meat snacks" and different barbecue sauces to sample, plus a curated whiskey selection, cocktails, and beers from head bartender Palani Stewart and a how-to guide and swag bag to take home.

A Chef's Collaborative Pop-Up Dinner
This collaborative seven-course dinner will reunite Aaron Tekulve of the Surrell pop-up dinner series and private dining company, Ben Campbell of the Ben's Bread pop-up and the bread program at Renee Erickson's Rana e Rospo, and three-time Cochon555 Seattle winner Mitch Mayers, who is planning to open his much-buzzed-about restaurant Sawyer this summer. The trio met while working in the kitchen at Lark for chef John Sundstrom and the then-chef de cuisine Lauren Thompson (who now works at Cafe Juanita). Expect super-innovative bites like parmesan churros (!), chicken liver pate donuts with "Cheez-its" and salmon rillette, and wood sorrel granita with lemon cream, all paired with Washington wines.

POUR
While wine tasting is often thought of as a destination activity, relegated to weekend trips to Woodinville or eastern Washington, Seattle is lucky to host a coterie of urban wineries within its city limits. The second edition of this annual festival will feature tastings from over 20 Seattle-based wineries, including Aluel Cellars, Cloudlift Cellars, Elsom Cellars, Nine Hats Wines, and more, plus music and street food.

JUNE 16-17
Artusi Pop-Up Brunch
Just for June, the Italian aperitivo bar Artusi will offer a brunch on the weekends, with a $20 buffet spread of cured meats, fresh fruit, pastries from Cafe Besalu, bruschetta, and more, as well as a la carte egg dishes and other items, including baked eggs with anchovy cream and rosemary and French toast with hazelnuts. Plus, there'll be Herkimer coffee and brunch cocktails from bar manager Bryn Quarles.

SUNDAY, JUNE 17
Brunch with Musang: Father's Day
Bar del Corso chef Melissa Miranda's Filipino brunch pop-up Musang is named after her dad's nickname (which means "wildcat" in Tagalog), so it's only fitting that she's celebrating the namesake himself with a Father's Day brunch featuring her signature "fresh and seasonal take on Filipino favorites."
